4 youths who raped teen boy jailed

The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced to two years in jail four Emirati youths who sodomised a 13-year old beachgoer after pulling him into their car and driving with him to a du telecommunications station in an isolated area.

One of the convicts AB, 21, was sentenced one more year for kidnap and threat charges.

According to the records, in April last year, HA, student went with his mother and two younger brothers to play football on the beach. As his six-year-old brother was injured while playing, the mother took him home.

“My other brother and I continued playing until a man came to us and introduced himself and a policeman friend to me and then said that he knows my cousin. Then he asked my brother to go and wash his body to avoid sand rash. He took my mobile number and then he asked me to walk with him on the beach. As we started walking he asked me to get into the sea which I did. While swimming in a dark area he hugged me from the back. I tried to run away from him but he caught and threatened me,” the victim said.

After about 20 minutes the mother returned to pick up her other two sons. “I returned to the beach and saw my elder son standing with two youths. I called him and asked him why he is talking to strangers. He told me that they are from the police and they know his cousin. I asked him not to talk to them again and not to talk to people older than him and then returned home,” the mother told investigators.

A couple of hours later, the boy got a call from the same man he met on the beach, AB, who asked him to meet him at the school near his house and threatened to come to his house if he did not come there on his own. The boy got scared and got out of the house, giving the excuse to his mother that he is going out for a walk.

AB came in a white car and when the boy reached the school, he pushed him into the car where another man pointed a knife at his neck.

AB drove away and then stopped at a du telecom station. AB pulled the boy into the station holding a knife in his hand. He then asked him to take off his lower dress and lie on the floor.

“I got scared of him and so I took off my dress and he sodomised me against my will while the other man was watching the area. When he finished, the other man came in and did the same to me,” the boy told investigators.

The two men then threatened to kill him and his family if he informed anyone about what had happened, before dropping him back to the school where they had picked him up.

Two weeks later, AB called him again at around 10.30pm and asked him to come out of the house. The 42-year-old mother SR, Emirati, allowed her son to go for a walk but asked him to return early.

AB came with another man in a 4WD car and after picking him up they drove to the same telecommunication station.

“AB sodomised me and then the other man. When the two finished, two other men came in and did the same thing to me. Then they dropped me back after threatening to kill me and my family if I informed anyone,” the victim told investigators.

Discovering the crime

 In May, the boy accompanied his father to a nearby mosque. While praying, the father noticed that his son was unable to bend his knees and sit. “After finishing the prayer, I asked him why he could not sit after prostration,” the father said.

 The boy then told his father about the sexual assaults and how he met at the beach his assaulters who threatened to kill him and his family if he informed anyone. The father accompanied his son to the station where he found probable stains of sperms on the floor and informed the police.

Police investigated the complaint and arrested AB who admitted to sodomising the victim. AB also admitted that his friend AI, 19, had sodomised the boy too. However, he claimed that the act was consensual.

Questioning him about the second incident, AB claimed that the second time, the victim had called him and sought a meeting. “AI and I picked the boy from the school as well as our other two friends SR, 18, and SM, 20. The four of us had sex with the boy one after another. Then we dropped him back at the school.”

AB admitted to threatening the victim of killing him and his family if he informed anyone. Police arrested the other three assaulters who all admitted to the crime but claimed that it was consensual.

DNA test proved that sperms of AI that were found in the station.

Psychological impact

The mother of the boy told investigators that, on the night of the incident, she got very worried as her son was late. “As he did not return until 11pm, I called him on his mobile. He replied and said that he wants to continue walking for some time. His sounded scared so I asked him not to be late but he returned at midnight. When he returned he was in abnormal condition. He looked very sad and his face was red. Asking him about the reason he told me that he had fallen down,” the mother said.

On the same night, the mother woke up at night on hearing her son’s scream. “I rushed to his room. He was sleeping. I woke him and asked him why he was screaming. He told me ‘nothing’ but asked me to lock the doors,” the mother told investigators.

She informed the boy’s father and told him about her suspicions since the evening she saw him with the strangers on the beach. The parents took the victim to a psychiatrist as he became very aggressive with his brothers and mother after the incident. He also withdrew from the family and preferred to be alone.
