7,785 illegals nabbed by Dubai immigration

A total of 61,403,000 transactions were completed by the Dubai Naturalization and Residency Department last year, which represents seven per cent increase from the year 2013, according to Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al Marri, Director General of DNRD.

Maj. Gen. Al Marri announced in a press conference held yesterday that  the department also issued more than 12,772 visas last year.

“We have also registered more than 43,585,587 travelers from all Dubai exit and entry points, which represents 7 per cent increase than the year 2013. We have also completed more than one million applications through our branch at Dubai Airport Terminal Three.”

He pointed out that the numbers are also expected to further increase by the end of this year and next year.

Al Marri added that they have completed more than 120,000 transactions for the renewal and issuing of e-gate cards last year , which 10 per cent increase than the previous year.

“We have also issued more than 5 million tourism visas last year.

He added that the Inspection Section has  also arrested more than 7,785 illegal persons last year from the inspection campaigns which included more than 326 establishments. Some 1,100 fake documents were also seized by Dubai immigration in 2014.

“The  number of complaints we received from employers regarding their employees leaving the work has fallen last year by 6 per cent from the year 2013. And this I believe is because of the increase in awareness level in the society.”
