91 caught living illegally during Sunday raid

In a surprise raid, inspection teams at the General Department of Residency and Foreign Affairs (DNRD) in Dubai have nabbed 91 violators and infilitrators from the emirate's Satwa area on Sunday afternoon.

Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of DNRD praised the effort of inspectors for implementing the campaign succesfully. He said that the campaign across the emirate aims to  catch those living illegally in Dubai and take legal action against them.

He said that it is the job of the administration to pursue the violators who threaten the safety of the homeland as well as the citizens and residents of Dubai.

Khalaf Al Ghaith, the Assistant Director General of DNRD told the media that they had received information that a number of people were living illegally in Dubai's Satwa area. Out of those apprehended during the raid on Sunday, majority were Asian males.

Those arrested have been charged for violating the law of entry and residence of foreigners.

Ghaith has urged the residents of Dubai to keep an eye out for those who have overstayed their legal stay in the country or are working without a proper/valid visa.
