Abu Dhabi husband accused of barring wife from Facebook

An Arab man is on trial in Abu Dhabi  on charges of barring his wife from using Facebook after seeking a Fatwa (Islamic edict) in this respect.

The man had been sentenced to one month in prison by a court of first instance on the grounds he had divorced his wife and had no right to enter her Facebook page.

But he told court that the divorce was not completed and that he had the right to shut his wife’s Facebook page by changing her password.

Newspapers said an appeals court re-trying the man on Wednesday adjourned hearings for sentence on April 27.
