The father who, together with his mistress, allegedly tortured his two little daughters and premeditatedly killed one of them, claimed before the court that police interrogators had lied under oath.

HSJ, 29, told the jury presided by Judge Maher Salamah Al Mahdi: “They (interrogators) took the oath to tell the truth… Why then are they telling lies?”

“They said the studio flat in International City where we lived was not fit for humans to live, but in fact they had caused the mess when they first came and searched the house. How then can they complain about the mess?  They also said they came only once but they had come before that. They took the clothes out and created the whole mess,” he said.

His mistress AMA, 27, addressed reporters attending the hearing, complaining about media reports about the case, before a policewoman stopped her.

In the previous hearing, the accused had refused to attend the hearing of the case and the judge had asked policemen who are assigned to bring detainees to the court, to ensure his attendance “even if force is necessary.”

A policeman, who is in charge of bringing accused to the court from their detention, said told the court that the accused had refused to attend. The judge said: “Bring him against his will if he refuses to attend the next hearing.”

In a previous hearing, HSJ had suddenly attacked a policeman while the latter was giving his testimony before the judge. He jumped from the dock and assaulted a policeman while making his testimony.

An anti-riot staff in Courtroom No. 4 put the accused under control and stopped him from reaching the policeman giving his testimony on the death of Wadeema and the torture of Mira, the man’s two little daughters.

The witness was standing in front of the presiding judge Maher Mahdi Salama and was asked why the accused and his mistress used to lock the two girls in the bathroom. “They did that whenever they wanted to have sex,” the witness answered the judge.

The accused then jumped from the dock and rushed towards the witness, shouting: “Why you are saying that? You are lying. This is a lie.”

The court’s anti-riot staff and policemen guarding the courtroom controlled the accused before he could reach the witness. Presiding Judge Salama then ordered the accused to be taken back to detention.

The drama did not end here as the accused father’s mistress AMA insulted the officer and told that court that the witness’ testimony is incorrect. The judge ordered her to be disciplined in the courtroom.

AMA then asked the jury to award her the death penalty for being the only person responsible for the death of  8-year-old Wadeema and torturing her and her younger sister Mira, causing her 10 per cent permanent disability.

Three police officers, who were supposed to give their testimonies on Wednesday, were absent at the hearing.

Presiding judge Salamah adjourned the case to Janary 12 to hear the witnesses and for the defence lawyer to prepare his defence.

In a previous hearing, policemen who interrogated and investigated the death of t 8-year-old Wadeema at the hands of her father and his mistress, testified before the Dubai Criminal Court that the victim was made to eat her own faces and that the flat was not fit for humans to live in.

One policeman who had interrogated AMA, after the discovery of the decomposed body of the girl in the desert in Sharjah, said that she had told him that the girl was willingly eating her own faeces.

Another policeman, who had searched the studio flat in International City where HSJ and AMA were living with his two daughters Mira, testified that the flat was not fit for humans to live in. “ I saw a flat that was not fit for humans to live in. It was complete dirty and messy. I also found two irons used for torturing the girls,” he testified.

AMA delivered a baby, conceived through her illicit relationship with AMA, while the case was going on in the court. The court heard the testimony of 7-year-old Mira in a deliberation room, accepting a request made by the accused father.

The father and his mistress were arrested following a visit of the girl’s uncle to their house. He reported that Wadeema was missing and the younger one Mira’s condition was bad.

Police estimated from the decompose body of Wadeema that she had died over six months ago. The father and his mistress were accused of torturing the two girls with different tools and burning their bodies with iron and confining them for long hours without food in the bathroom or in the wardrobe causing the death of one and 10 per cent permanent disability for the other one.

The court will reconvene on January 20.
