Ajman beauty saloon sends girl to hospital

An Emirati girl was admitted to hospital with allergic burns in her hands after a dyeing session at a beauty saloon in Ajman, triggering a municipal crackdown on all saloons in the emirate, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

Doctors at Al Qassimi hospital in Sharjah said the 21-year-old girl suffered from allergy after a substance used in colouring was applied to her hands at the saloon, adding that the dye contained hazardous chemical substance.

Just after the incident, Ajman municipality said it had sent its inspectors to all saloons in the emirate to check substances used in dyeing and ensure they comply with health standards.

“We will continue inspection of these places, mainly female saloons…we are also open to any complaints by the public,” the Municipality’s director Yehya Al Riyasa told the Arabic language daily 'Emarat Al Youm'.

Man attempts to end life

An Asian man was rushed to hospital in Ras Al Khaimah after trying to end his life by swallowing a large quantity of drug pills.

The civil defence sent an ambulance after receiving a call from a company in Khor Khowair in the northern emirate that a 30-year-old worker attempted a suicide, newspapers reported.

The unnamed worker was saved in the last minute and police were investigating his motives, they said.

Speed kills Indian woman

An Indian woman was killed but her husband and daughter escaped after their car overturned near Umm Al Quwain because of speed, police said.
The three were on their way from Dubai to Ras Al Khaimah early Thursday when the vehicle swerved off the road and overturned on Emirates Road, they said.

“The accident was clearly caused after the driver lost control of his vehicle because of high speed…his wife died on the spot but the man and his daughter escaped unhurt,” said Lt Colonel Saeed bin Aran, UAQ traffic police chief.
