An Indian grocery store owner in Al Ain has been found hanging from the ceiling fan of his apartment by relatives who believe he committed suicide.

Sources close to the family told this website that the man, identified as Nissar (44), allegedly ended his life following a dispute with his brother, who is also his business partner.

The brother has been detained by the Al Ain Police for interrogation.

Nissar has been running the Salem Bin Rabee grocery for about 25 years in Al Ain.

“His brother went to his room and found him hanging from the ceiling fan.

“His brother says he was still alive and brought him down, but then he succumbed,” said the source.

“There were some problems between the brothers and a third partner in their business. Neighbours said they heard earlier arguments between the two brothers,” the source said.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Sameera, and two college-going daughters and a son.

Hope and hopelessness

Last week an Indian allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in Al Ain, four days after his driving licence file was opened.

Emirates 24|7 reported the story of Salim Mone, an Indian grocery store owner, who was on the verge of suicide, after his wife eloped with their children’s tuition teacher, taking the family jewellery with her.

Another Indian businessman who has been running a restaurant business for three decades in the UAE ended his life, allegedly due to financial distress.
