A porter, who attempted to steal 40 boxes of French apples from his employer’s fruit company, was sentenced to three months in jail.
The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance also ordered RI, 20, to be deported after serving his jail term.
According to the records, HA, 53, Indian guard, noticed RI was taking boxes of apples in a trolley out of the company’s premises.
“I stopped him and asked him why he is taking fruit boxes outside the store. He said that he intended to sell them. When I asked him if he had done it previously, he answered yes,” said HA.
The guard informed store keeper HA who reported the incident to the police.
The porter admitted committing theft and attempt to commit theft.
