Published

Abu Dhabi Police arrested an Arab couple involved in deception and sorcery by claiming they can sort marital problems by just a piece of hair in return for large sums of money, newspapers said on Sunday.

A female police undercover posing as a wife who had fallen out with her husband lured the man and the woman into police bait after paying them Dh50,000.

The woman, 36, works at a beauty saloon in the capital while the man, on a visit visa, denied he was involved in sorcery, saying he was a raqi (healer by Quran) and that he does not charge customers but give them the choice to pay.

“When the police undercover handed the woman the money, other policemen swooped on the place and arrested the woman and the man…they found hair and magic items in their possession,” Emarat Al Youm daily said, quoting Colonel Rashid Burushaid, director ot the Abu Dhabi criminal investigation department.

Husband kills splurging wife

A man in Egypt's Alexandria governorate allegedly tortured his wife to death unable to bear her splurging.

According to Al Youm Al Sabea'a newspaper, the couple were married for three years. The husband who works has a plumber reportedly could not meet the demands of his 'extravagant' wife, so much so he decided to do away with her.

He allegedly tied her with a rope and tortured her, hitting her all over the body until she passed away.

When police arrived the woman was lying on the floor bleeding from the stomach, with bruises all over her body. The husband had fled the scene. He was later arrested from one of his relatives' houses and confessed to the crime.
