A bank employee who threatened to kill a woman and her children if she did not drop a police complaint of harassment against him, was given three months suspended jail term by a court.

According to the records, the victim HM, 32, American, first met the accused AM, 35, during bank transactions.

“After some time, we became friends and he learnt that I am having problems with my husband that had reached the court,” she said.

After that, AM tried to get closer to the woman and started pursuing her as she did not give him the attention he sought.

“I asked him to leave me alone but he continued chasing me so I lodged a complaint at Rashidiya police station. After that, he phoned my senior in the office and asked him to persuade me to drop my complaint or he would kill me and my children,” she said.

Her senior told investigators that he received a phone call from a man who asked him to persuade HM to drop her complaint.

The accused also threatened to kill HM and her children if she did not do as he wished. The accused told the senior that he had to call him because HM was not answering his phone calls.
