A brawl broke out among three men and ended with one of them sustaining three per cent permanent disability and destroying a rented car, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Two brothers, MMM, 20, and AMM, 26, students, have been accused of assaulting BIM, 28, driver, and causing him three per cent disability. They have also been accused of destroying a rented Lexus car.

BIM is also accused of assaulting MMM with a knife.

BIM testified that he was asked by MMM to meet him at his house in Al Safa area. “I went there and asked him if there was an issue between him and his brother. He denied having any problem and that it was sorted out at a police station.

"All of a sudden he charged towards me and hit me; then his brother also assaulted me which resulted in a fracture in my arm. When I tried to escape I saw them destroying my car. I went back and got into the car. But one of them rushed into his house and brought a steel tool and hit at my arm. They did not leave me until police came. As they saw the patrol they ran away and I was rushed to the hospital,” he testified.

Policemen testified that they were patrolling the area and they saw the victim BIM lying on the street and two men were beating him. “Immediately I requested an ambulance. As we stopped at the scene the attackers ran away and I saw the victim’s car was damaged,” testified Sergeant Ali Abdulrahman.

Forensic experts reported that the victim sustained permanent disability.

The court will reconvene on November 11.
