An Iranian allegedly threatened to kill his business partner if he did not drop the breach of trust complaint that he had lodged against him with the judicial authorities of Sharjah, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

The victim, MWB, 34, Iranian, testified that in October 2011, a financial dispute broke out between him and his partner AMG, also 34.

“I lodged a complaint against him for breach of trust as he had stolen money. He argued with me and asked me to reduce the amount which I refused. Then he came to my house and threatened me saying: “I will kill you. I will send people to destroy your life.” He tried to force me to drop the complaint.

“As I was scared, I agreed to meet him in Dubai to settle the problem. This time, I was accompanied by two friends. He asked me again to reduce the amount, but I refused. He threatened to kill me and destroy my life. He told me that if I wanted to put him in jail, I can try. He said CID staff are with him and he pointed to a Land Cruiser in which two Iranians were sitting. I went to my car and drove away as I was sure that these men were not CID staff,” he testified.

ARO, 32, Iranian partner, testified that he had heard the accused threatening MWB several times. “The victim used to put the call in the loudspeaker mode so as to give me a chance to hear the conversation. The accused threatened to kidnap and kill MWB,” he testified.

The court will reconvene on July 19.
