Cheeky worker aims 'bye kiss' on woman's cheek

A restaurant worker attempted to plant a goodbye kiss on a woman’s cheek in front of the taxi driver after helping her find a taxi, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

NM, 42, Lebanese, took the metro to go to a relative’s house but she got off at the wrong station, so she needed help to find a taxi.

“It was at 10pm when I got off the metro station at the Jumeira Lakes area. As I did not know the area, I sought help in a nearby restaurant. One of the restaurant workers accompanied me to a taxi stand. I stopped a taxi and the worker informed the driver of the address. Then he opened the back door of the taxi, while bending towards my face.

“When I turned my face away from him, he pulled me by my neck so he could kiss my cheek. When I shouted at him, he ran away while the driver was surprised by the incident. I called my relative and told her what happened and she directed the driver to her house,” she told investigators.

Taxi driver, MZ, Bangladeshi testified about what had happened in his car.

Police arrested SH, 29, Pakistani who claimed that he had only put his hand on the woman’s shoulder and neck in a gesture of saying goodbye to her.

The Court will reconvene on March 5.
