Civil servant taking bribes to forge visas

Abu Dhabi police arrested a civil servant on charges of taking bribe to forge 349 residence visas for foreigners, a newspaper said on Tuesday.

The prosecutor accused the unnamed defendant of accepting a Dh540,000 bribe to tamper with computer data at his department to have those visas issued.

Police also arrested an Asian public relations manager at a local company on charges of paying the bribe to the civil servant.

The semi-official daily 'Al Ittihad' said the two defendants would stand trial in December.
