Cleaner on trial for stealing... Dh10

A Bangladeshi cleaning worker is on trial in Dubai for stealing Dh10 from a charity donation box at a mosque, a newspaper said on Wednesday.

The security man seized the cleaner after suspecting he was doing something wrong by standing close to the donation box at the Dragon market at dawn.

When the security man asked him what he was doing there, the worker became confused and instantly threw a piece of metal inside the mosque.

“The security man found that it was a metal wire used by the worker to pull coins from the charity box…he took him to the security office and called his manager, who searched the worker and found Dh10 coins in his pocket,” Emirat Alyoum daily said, adding that the worker confessed to stealing the money from the box.

Please have mercy on the poor guy. Not all are born with morals. Instead of putting him in jail, give him a better job. Talk to him, you'll find out what world he lives in. Have mercy.... Kids steal money from parents all the time, does it mean we put them in jail? Situation is different for everyone...

I partly agree that have mercy on the guy, instead of jailing him over 10 bucks, educate the guy and raise his self esteem...make him feel he does an important job of cleaning and he's part of the team. But I blame the person who puts the charity box in a tempting location...
