Two Bangladeshi guards tried to steal scaffolding worth Dh6,000 from their employer's construction site, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On October 24 at around 5pm, an engineer in a contracting company visited the construction site.

“When I reached there, I saw the two guards were gathering scaffoldings and putting them at the gate where there was a Pakistani with his vehicle outside. I asked the guards why they were doing that. They told me that they were taking the scaffoldings to another construction site as per company’s orders.

“I asked them to stop their work and while I was double checking with the company, the two admitted to me that they were planning to sell them as they needed money. The driver denied agreeing with the two guards to steal and said that he was only passing by the site when the guards offered the scaffoldings to him for sale but he had refused,” testified the engineer.

Police was informed and the three were arrested, accused of attempted theft.

The court will give its sentence on March 30.
