Cop molests woman, asks her to return his gifts after he sees her with another man

An Emirati police corporal allegedly gave gifts to a woman and then asked to return his gifts and also attempted to rape her after he saw her with another man, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Tuesday.

An Emirati police corporal allegedly sexually molested the French visitor of Arab origin in her room after meeting her for a couple of days.

In November 2011, the policeman, MA, 31, Emirati, and the woman LB, 32, met for the first time near a mall at around 2am. The two talked for some time and exchanged mobile phone numbers before departing.

“On the following day, we talked for about 5 hours over the phone and it seemed to me that he is a decent man; so I invited him to the accommodation which I shared with others. He offered me a gift and told me that he would change his dress and will come again and pick me up to have lunch together. We went to a mall for shopping after having lunch and then he dropped me at home at around 1.30am,” the woman told investigators.

The cop asked the woman to allow him to get into the house to help carry her stuff, but she refused as according to the rules of the house, a man cannot get into a woman’s room. So he left.

On the following day the cop told her that he is too busy and cannot meet her.

“I called my friend ‘Y’ to have lunch outside together. We stopped at a petrol station where I saw MA,” she said.

LB said it seemed MA did not like to see the woman with another man so he asked her to return his stuff which he had given her; so the French woman asked him to follow them as she cannot leave her friend ‘Y’ and go with him.

“When we reached the house, I asked ‘Y’ to leave me alone to talk to MA. He asked me again if he can go with me to my room, I excused and told him about the owner’s rules, but he insisted and followed me. At the house gate, I tried to stop him from following me, but he kissed me several times trying to convince me to get in. As it was midnight, I could not talk to him and annoy other residents of the house. He followed me to my room, and again I tried to close the door to prevent him from getting in,” she told investigators.

However, the cop got into the room taking advantage of the fact that she was not shouting as she feared that they will inform the owner and she will face problem.

In the room, the cop tried to rape the woman but she refused.

“He twisted my hands towards my back and pushed me to the corner where he pulled up my dress and tried to rape me. As he could not, he ejaculated on my body. After that he took bath and left,” she told investigators.

The woman told police that she could not scream for help as she was scared that other residents would report her to the owner of the house and so she would be kicked out of the house. In addition, she told investigators that she did not want to leave bad reputation with people she knew in the UAE.

The woman rushed behind the cop in his car and shouted at him. He held her arm in the moving car and injured the woman.

However, residents of the house reported the noise to the owner of the house who called her to enquire about what had happened the night before.

The woman reported the incident to the police after sending SMSs to the cop threatening him that she will make him pay for what he did.

The Dubai Prosecution asked the court to implement stiffest penalty against the accused.

Forensic reported that DNA of MA was found on the woman’s body and a tissue paper collected from her room.
