Court restores sacked civil servant to job

The Federal Supreme Court (FSC) upheld two earlier court sentences and revoked a decision by a government department to sack one its female employees, saying the move was illegal.

The unidentified employee had filed a case with an Abu Dhabi administrative court contending a decision by her employers to sack her as part of what that department termed as restructuring plans.

The court supported the employee’s plea and asked that department to revoke the sacking decision, prompting the employers to appeal.

But the department again lost the case and decided to resort to the FSC.

“The FSC upheld the earlier sentences and asked the government department to revoke the sacking decision on the grounds restructuring is not listed as a cause for sacking employees by the human resources division at that establishment….for this reason, the decision is not legal and should be considered null and void,” ‘Al Bayan’ newspaper said.
