An Ethiopian housemaid in Fujairah used a kitchen knife to stab her Emirati female employer in the head and chest before fleeing the house. The 50-year-old Emirati was rushed to hospital in serious condition but was saved by doctors.

Police said they found the woman, identified as AMS, in a serious condition at her house after she lost much blood from the head and the chest.

Doctors at the hospital said the woman suffered many stab wounds in the chest and the face close to her eye but that her condition has stabilised.

“After her condition stabilised, she told police that her Ethiopian maid stabbed her many times,” said Brigadier Mohammed Al Kaabi, Fujeirah police commander.

He told the Arabic language daily Alittihad that police had mounted a massive manhunt to arrest the maid.

The paper quoted Fujairah medical zone director Dr Mohammed bin Saeed as saying that the woman was still in the intensive care unit but that her condition has stabilised and she was out of danger.

Old man kills drunk son

An 80-year-old Saudi man used a kitchen knife to murder his drunk son by stabbing him in the neck while asleep following an argument.

The man had told police that his 37-year-old son committed a suicide after having an argument with his parents while he was drunk at night.

The court in the western town of Makkah had closed the case before new evidence surfaced that it could have involved criminal act.

Investigation later confirmed police suspicions and the man confessed to the murder, prompting the court to reopen the case.

The father admitted that he stabbed his son in the neck while asleep after he insulted his parents while he was drunk. He said his wife then washed the knife and used it in cooking to cover for the murder.

“Police became suspicious after finding that the woman used the knife to cut meat and fruit just after the murder,” Sabq daily said.

Criminal gets 10 years, 6,000 lashes

A Saudi court sentenced a local man to 10 years in prison and ordered him lashed 6,000 times in separate sessions after he was convicted of committing many crimes, newspapers said on Thursday.

The court in the western town of Makkah said the 31-year-old man had beaten up a police guard, attacked and robbed a family, assaulted a taxi driver and committed many thefts before he was seized by the police.

One robbery involved storming into a house in Makkah and beating up the housewife and her daughters before taking their face veils off and stealing their money and jewelry at gun point.

When her son returned home and rang the bell, he opened the door and hit him on the head with a big stick. He then stole his car key and fled.
