A court in Ras Al Khaimah sentenced a police man to 10 years in prison after he was convicted or raping an Arab woman, newspapers said on Thursday.
The woman had reported the police man and his colleague to the prosecution, saying he raped her with the help of his friend while on duty.
Police arrested the two cops and referred them to the prosecutor, who demanded punishment of the rapist at court. Newspapers did not say whether his colleague was also convicted.
Boy, 15 stabbed by younger boy at school
A 15-year-old school boy was injured after he was stabbed by a younger boy during a fight at a school in the eastern oasis town of Al Ain on Wednesday.
The two boys, one Emirati, were involved in a scuffle just after they finished examination and the police said they were investigating the incident.
The boy suffered from light injuries and was taken to hospital while police were interrogating the 14-year-old attacker.
Driver seriously hurt after hitting camel
An Emirati driver was seriously injured after hitting a camel on the way to Umm al Quwain on Wednesday, causing the death of the animal.
The unnamed driver was heading back home on Sheikh Zayed Road when a herd of camels emerged on the road at night.
“The man suffered from serious injuries while the camel died…he was abiding by traffic laws but could not avert the accident after the camels emerged on the road suddenly,” said Lt Colonel Saeed bin Aran, head of UAQ traffic police.
Two maids, friend rob old woman in Dubai
Two housemaids and their friend, a shopkeeper, knocked the door of an apartment in Dubai. When its resident, a woman in her 60s, opened, they pushed her down, beat her up and stole more than Dh200,000 worth of jewelry.
The woman told police she had tried to resist, prompting the attackers to beat her until she lost consciousness before tying her up with a blanket. When she woke up a while later, she found that her little grandson was locked up in his room and all her jewelry had been stolen.
Police said they had arrested the three after receiving a tip off, adding that all burgled items had been recovered.
