Dead infant found in garbage in Sharjah

A dustman stumbled across a dead infant as he was emptying a garbage bin in Sharjah on Saturday, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

The man found the body inside a garbage bag dumped inside the bin in Sajaa industrial area and informed the police.

Police said the infant, weighing around 3 kg, has been sent to the coroner to identify the cause of death, according to the Arabic language daily Alittihad.

Sharjah police also arrested a Filipino who brought a new born baby to Al Qassimi Hospital for treatment but had no birth documents.

Alittihad said the Filipino confessed to having an illicit affair with a Filipina, adding that police intend to charge the couple with adultery.

“The baby would remain at hospital for some period of time before he is moved to the social care centre in the emirate,” it said.
