Two Iranian visitors allegedly stole garments from three shops in Deira City Centre and hid the stolen things in their hand bags after removing the security tags using a paper knife and other tools.

On August 3 at around 10pm two women entered the Debenhams store in Deira City Centre, picked up some women’s garments and went into the fitting room where they removed the security tags and stuffed the dresses into their hand bags.

The two women were noticed and reported to the staff supervisor who called the police.

The two ‘customers’ then left the Debenhams store and entered two other shops. Police stopped BS, 25 and MM, 40. Searching them, police confiscated two dresses in addition to sports trousers, scarf and T-shirt which they had stolen from the other two shops.

Police also confiscated a paper knife and other tools in their bags.

The women failed to present payment slips of the clothes found in their bags.

Confronting them with the thefts, the two admitted to stealing the clothes from the three shops they entered.

The Dubai Criminal Court will give its sentence on October 28.
