An Indian driver, KS, allegedly forged two parking tickets of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and placed them on his car’s windscreen, the Dubai Criminal Court was told during the case hearing on Tuesday.

At around 5.30pm, Emirati inspector Jasem Mohammed was checking on the cars in Al Baraha area when he spotted the parking tickets and became suspicious.

“On April 20, I noticed a parking ticket placed on the car with the issue date stating 21. There was a small piece of paper glued on it showing issuance date of 21. I took a picture of the ticket and the car and then informed my senior. While I was talking to my senior, the driver drove away the car.

“Three days later, I spotted the same car and the date on the ticket placed in the car was 24 while the actual date was 23. I informed my senior immediately and a security patrol arrived and arrested the driver,” testified the officer.

Police confiscated another ticket in the car, which was forged to read the date of 31/3.

The accused admitted to forging the parking tickets. The court will announce verdict on October 11.
