Drug dealer’s jail term upheld by Dubai Court of Appeal

The Dubai Court of Appeal on Wednesday upheld life jail term awarded to a 30-year-old Kenyan ray technician for possessing and selling about half a kilogramme of marijuana.

WO was also ordered to be deported after serving his jail term.

According to the records, a tip-off was made to the police about WO possessing and selling marijuana. A policeman was assigned to act as a “buyer”.

The “buyer” communicated with the accused and agreed to buy the drug from him for Dh36,500.

Bother the “buyer” and the informer went by the latter’s car to meet the drug dealer.

The accused was seen holding a white sack during the meeting in a hospital’s parking lot. As he saw the informer’s car, he stepped towards it and handed over the sack and received the money.

Policemen arrested the accused after he had received the money and also confiscated the drug.

The accused admitted that he received drug from a fugitive and sold it to him to financially help another person on moral grounds.

In February, the Dubai Criminal Court of First Instances awarded the accused life jail term for possessing drugs to sell it others.

The Appeal upheld the verdict of the lower court.
