Drugs found in neck sling for broken arm

A Bangladeshi painter allegedly hid marijuana in the neck sling supporting his broken arm in plaster, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Police received a tip off about 34-year-old BH smoking and selling marijuana. After checking the authenticity of the information, police spotted the suspect near Port Rashid.

“Arresting and searching him, we confiscated three rolls of papers that contained herbs. The rolls were hidden in the sling around his neck that carried his arm which was in plaster. Searching his accommodation, we confiscated two boxes of cigarettes that contained marijuana wrapped in paper and hidden in the boxes,” First Sergeant Abdullah Jaber testified.

A total of 35.4 grammes of marijuana were confiscated. A urine test proved positive for marijuana or hashish.

During investigations the accused confessed to consuming and possessing drugs for selling. However, in the Court he denied possessing drugs for trading but admitted to consumption.

The Court will reconvene on April 9.
