Dubai cop killed while checking on accident

A Dubai traffic police man was run over by a car driven by a Lebanese woman as he was checking another accident on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road.

The police man has just crossed the first lane and was in the second lane when he was knocked over by that vehicle. He was rushed to hospital but died later.

The unnamed woman told police at the site that she did not see him crossing the road and that she was not aware of any accident in that area.

“Police men involved in planning road accidents normally take good precautionary measures especially on motorways…police patrols were in that area and the woman should have noticed this,” Dubai traffic police chief Major General Mohammed Al Zafin said, quoted by the Arabic language daily Emarat Al Youm.

He said the woman is being interrogated by the traffic prosecutor before legal procedures are taken against her.

Drug dealer nabbed by Abu Dhabi undercover cop

Abu Dhabi police arrested a drug dealer from another Gulf country after he was caught selling narcotics to a police undercover in the capital.

The detective had called the dealer following tip to the police that he was trying to market drugs in the country and the two agreed to meet. As he handed the drugs to the undercover and received cash, police posted in the place rushed in and arrested the dealer.

Newspapers said an Abu Dhabi criminal court sentenced the unnamed dealer to life in prison on Wednesday following several session.
