Dubai courts settles cases valuing Dh1.4bn

The court also emphasized that failure of sellers to deliver property as agreed in the contract entitle buyers to not pay the rest of the price (File)

The Dubai Courts succeeded in settling disputes of Dh1.4 billion total value during the first half of this year.

This amount recorded 600 per cent increase compared to Dh240m been settled during the first half of 2014.

The number of cases studied and those solved amicably recorded hundred per cent increases during the first half this year compared to the same period last year, said Mohammed Amin Mubashari, Head of Amicable Settlement Centre in Dubai Courts.

He said that the centre made its decision in 4544 disputes against 2194 last year.

This forms a hundred per cent increase.

As well, the number of cases that were settled amicably was 786 disputes against 394 last year. This also forms a hundred per cent increase/

Mubashari also noted that the number of disputes that required expertise whether it was civic, commercial or property has increased by 103 cases from 538 in 2014 to 641 this year.

Mubashari assured that the centre is keen to reach settlements and help solve problems between disputant parties to ensure strong investment environment, ties and relationships, save time and efforts and protect rights and obligations for all parties.
