A Bangladeshi who is accused of burgling a villa while its occupants were in, fled the scene after leaving behind his shoe which enabled a police dog to identify him.

MH, 27, climbed the fence of a villa in Umm Suqeim in which a Jordanian family lived. He broke into the house using a screw driver. He groped the leg of a sleeping woman after he stole her mobile phone.

IT woke up and started shouting and screaming at the stranger.  The attacker dropped the mobile phone and tried to run away but the husband woke up and fought with the intruder who managed to flee, leaving behind one of his shoes.

MY, 44, engineer, testified that he woke up when he heard his wife’s shouting. “I caught a man in our bedroom. He struggled to free himself from my grip. I could tear off his shirt but he finally wriggled out of my grip and ran away leaving behind his shoe,” he testified.

The man reported the incident to the police who rushed to the villa with a police dog. The shoe helped the dog to identify the accused. The animal recognised his smell thrice in identification parades.

The accused admitted to entering MY’s house with the intention to burgle.

He was charged in Court with house burglary, molestation, assault and entering a house against the will of its occupant.
