Elderly man robbed after offered a lift

A driver allegedly kidnapped a 75-year-old man and stole Dh1,000 cash and his watch under knife threat, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

HSM, 21, is also accused of orally threatening the elderly MHJ, Emirati contractor to beat him up.

The victim MHJ testified that on August 18 at around 10pm in Ramadan and after finishing Taraweeh prayer, the accused stopped him and offered him a lift to his house. “I went with him and after about 2kms he stopped the car in a sandy area and asked me to take out whatever is in my pocket. I pulled my wallet which contained about Dh2,000 and other cards, he also took my watch valued at Dh150 and mobile phone costing Dh500 after pointing a knife and a steel piece. He assaulted me with the steel piece,” he testified.

The victim was rushed to Rashid hospital where he made his testimony to the police.

The court will reconvene on March 29.
