A Pakistani embroider allegedly molested a Filipina co-worker in a tailoring shop, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

MAB, 28, is accused of molesting MFR, 40, tailor, while attempting to rape her.

The victim testified that on January 17, at around 2.30pm, she went to a kitchen next to her place of work to have a nap on cushions there.

“The accused entered the kitchen without knocking on the door. As he entered, I sat up and took my mobile phone which was on the table. He put his hand on my leg and told me: “I need.” I realised his intention so I tried to move away quickly. He hit my hand and threw away the mobile phone and groped my private parts. I stood up and hit him on his leg. He also hit me on the leg and I fell to the ground.  He sat on my back and put his hand on my mouth to prevent me from shouting for help. I bit his hand but it hurt my lips which bled. I pulled a water bottle and hit him with it. He got scared and stood up.

“I rushed to the window and shouted for help. I called the owner of the shop who arrived soon as he was nearby.  He came and asked the accused about the incident and asked me not to notify the police and paid me Dh50 and asked me to go home and take rest as my lip was bleeding. I did not listen to him and notified the police,” she testified.

Forensic reported that the victim sustained in addition to her lip wound, bruises on her shoulder, arm and knees and nail scratches.

The court adjourned the case for verdict on April 22.
