Emirati dies of drug overdose in hospital

An Emirati man died in hospital in Sharjah after having a drug overdose and police said they were still investigating the incident.

The 47-year-old man was brought dead by his relatives to Al Qassimi Hospital in the northern emirate, Alittihad newspaper said.

“Police said initial investigation showed he died of a narcotic overdose…they are also investigating whether criminal act is involved in his death,” it said.                                                                      

UAE child dies a week after being run over by car

A 7-year-old Emirati boy died nearly a week after he was run over by a car while crossing the road near his house in Kalba, a newspaper reported on Friday.

Hassan Mohammed Abdullah was last week rushed to hospital after he was hit by a car just as he stepped out of his house and was crossing a nearby road.

The boy, suffering from head and body injuries, remained in the intensive care unit until he died on Thursday night, according to Emarat Alyoum daily.
