Emirati killed, 3 hurt in RAK car crash

A 21-year-old Emirati man was killed and three others were injured in Ras Al Khaimah after his car was hit by another vehicle while trying to make a u turn without paying attention to other cars, according to police.

The 23-year-old driver was seriously injured while two Emiratis in the other car also sustained wounds and were all taken to hospital.

“The driver of the first car entered an opening in the road in Adhan area and wanted to make a u-turn…he was driving fast and did not pay attention to the other cars coming his way,” a police source said, quoted by the Dubai-based Arabic language daily 'Emarat Al Youm'.

Here in the US, people as young as 16 years old are allowed to drive. My opinion is that 21 is probably too young as well.

I think the authorities need to wake up on this issue as more Emiratis are giving their valuable life on the roads. Such young people losing their life causes a lot of pain for their families. I think it is dangerous to give cars to young people and not control them at all. Parents should interfere and correct them if they are wrong on the roads.
