An Emirati man, KH, was brutally attacked with a sword several times and sustained fatal head wounds, skull fraction and internal bleeding after he got into a minor argument with three man, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On March 31, at around 1am, KH, was driving his car accompanied with his friend SA on Beirut Street.

"When we stopped at a traffic signal I noticed smoke coming out from the car next to me, I tried to draw the driver's attention to that. Instead of appreciating what I did, the driver said that was not of my business. I was surprised by his rudeness and asked him why was he talking to me in that manner.

"He then got off his car and opened my car's door and sat in the back seat. I got off the car and asked him to get out," KH, told investigators.

The driver got off and went to his car, and as the signal turned green, we moved.

However, the other car followed KH and SA and hit his car from back. They then signaled KH to stop his car.

"I stopped on the side of the road and my friend SA got down and headed towards them...

"Two men with swords came out of that car... SA saw that and ran followed by the two men.

"I got off my car, and the third man rushed to me with a sword... he hit me on my head and shoulders with sword. My left side went numb and I fell down... but I could hear a man asking the attackers to stop.

"I heard the attacker saying he wants to behead me... that was the last thing I heard before falling unconscious," said the victim.

SA kept running for 100m till his two attackers stopped following and returned to their friend near the car.

"I saw the big man hitting KH... my friend fell down... they smashed the car's front and back glass with their swords... the three attackers then rode their car and drove away," SA told investigators.

Police arrived and rushed the victim to the hospital.

Police arrested MR, 22, who was driving the car and his companion KI, 26 who was sitting next to him.

KI was the big man who attacked the victim while the driver and the other passenger ran behind SA.

He also told investigators that there were not any pedestrian at that time, however, many cars passed by but none of the drivers stopped.

Forensic reports showed that the victim sustained fatal head wounds, skull fracture and internal bleeding that could have killed him if he was not provided medical assistance immediately.

Dubai Prosecution asked the court to implement stiffest penalty against the accused who have criminal record of similar attacks.

The two are being prosecuted for attempting to kill two men, assaulting them and damaging their car.

The court will reconvene on July 26.
