A citizen of a European nation has been arrested in Dubai for possession, use and intent to distribute cocaine and hashish in the emirate.
Major General Abdul Jalil Mahdi, Director General Narcotics Department of Dubai Police, told this website that ORK, aged 37, is married and worked in Dubai.
After receiving a tip-off, the Dubai Police put the man under surveillance after which, they raided his apartment.
A large quantity of hashish and cocaine were found in the house, as well as marijuana seeds.
The man hid in the kitchen when the cops stormed his house, but was soon discovered.
The man was tested for drug use and found to have consumed cocaine.
The defendant admitted to bringing in the cocaine from a European countries in capsules which he swallowed and in his stomach.
He also expressed remorse and was sorry for his family: his wife and two sons.
Major General Abdul Jalil Mahdi has asked residents to be alert to foil trafficking and use of drugs.
