A Filipina girl claimed that her compatriot and co-worker rapped her at their shared labour accommodation after drinking alcohol .
Speaking to Emirates 24|7, Maj. Gen. Khalil Al Mansouri, Director General of Dubai Police CID confirmed the incident and said that the case was referred to Dubai Public Prosecution for further investigation.
He said that according to the woman, she was sleeping on her bed when her co worker came to her and put his hands on her mouth to stop her from screaming and raped her.
The next day, the victim aged 28 years went to Bur Dubai Police station and reported the incident.
The victim said that her co-worker was drunk when he raped her.
She said that the incident took place at their staff accomodation in Al Satwa area.
During initial investigations, the suspect admitted having sex with the woman and said she agreed to it and denied raping her.
He added that the Filipino suspect is currently detained and his case was referred to public prosecution for further investigation.
Maj. Gen. Al Mansouri said such practices and acts are strange to the UAE society, and that the communities living here must take into account the cultural and religious values of the UAE, and stay away from any acts and practices that may lead to the commission of the crime.
