Extra classes, selfie, teacher who 'touched' 17-year-old girl student

A teacher allegedly molested his student when he was alone with her in the classroom and then claimed that he was joking, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Sunday.

RH, 17, Canadian, complained to the school administration that her chemistry teacher who was giving her special class after school, touched her inappropriately and took a picture with her.

“After an hour of explaining lessons to me, the teacher came close to me telling me that I am like his sister.

"He then showed me some pictures of him with students and asked me to take a selfie with him. I accepted that and while taking the picture he kissed my cheek and touched me inappropriately.

"Then he said that the picture was not clear. I got angry and stood up to go when he clicked another picture. I rushed to sign the attendance record and he groped me again,” the teenager told in court.

The student rushed out of school and went home.
 
The teenager’s mother testified in court: “She was not her usual self at home that day. She was strangely quiet. Only the next day morning, on her way to the school, she asked me what I would do if I were to be in an unsuitable situation. I answered that I would avoid the situation.”

The girl then went to the school administration and reported the incident to the student affair supervisor.

At the end of the school day, the school administration informed the mother’s colleague who had gone to pick up the girl about the incident.

The school administration allegedly asked not to report the incident to the police as they terminated the teacher.

However, the mother’s friend and the girl reported the crime to police.

The teacher admitted before police about groping the girl but claimed that he was just joking with her.

However, in court, the teacher denied the accusation and asked the judge for bail. The jury refused his request and adjourned the case until December 20.
