A Pakistani with other fugitives allegedly posed as CID officer and entered a residence of two compatriots and robbed them after beating them up, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On November 5, 2012, at around 5.30pm while MN was in his flat in a building at the grand suq area accompanied with his friend MS, three men, aged between 30 and 40, entered the flat and posed as CID officers without showing their IDs.

“The three men who looked like Pakistanis from their dress and features asked us what we are doing here and asked us about our IDs after claiming they are from CID,” testified MN, 24, Indian cook.

As the two victims pulled out their wallets, the attackers asked them to put them on a table while one of them started searching them and the other two searched the room.

“They beat us, stole our wallets and mobile phones and ran away after locking the door from outside leaving the key in the lock. We shouted and screamed so the building watchman hear us and open the door.

The victim noted that his friend recognized one of the attackers. He was among a group of policemen who had raided the flat earlier.

The victim told investigators that he used the flat for selling watches. Sometime before the attack, ‘police’ had raided the flat and confiscated the watches, he said.

The second victim, MS, repeated the testimony and said that after the watchman opened the flat’s door they ran behind the attackers and saw them riding a white car that carried Abu Dhabi number plate.

In May 2013, police showed the victims a collection of pictures of people who had similar criminal record.

The two victims recognized one of the attackers AK, 39, a Pakistani national who was in detention for other crimes.
