Fake Viagra being sold in Dragon Mart

Dubai’s law enforcers checking items on sale at the famous Chinese Dragon market in the emirate stumbled across fake Viagra pills and other illegal sexual stimulant medicines, a newspaper said on Wednesday.

The inspectors impounded all those products and fined those shops to ensure they will not find their way into other markets in the emirate, the Arabic language daily Emirat Alyoum said.

“We have issued five fines against those dealers in coordination with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) for trying to sell these fake items,” said Omar Bu Shehab, director of consumer protection at the Department of Economic Development.

He said DHA had conducted random tests on those products and found that had been mixed with harmful chemical products used in treating impotence.

“Our inspectors visited many other shops in that market and found that some of them are selling fake Viagra tablets…they were are confiscated.”

He said dealers tried to tempt customers by sticking pictures of “wild animals to indicate physical and sexual power.”
