A 'forgotten' placenta and umbilical cord in a woman’s body led cops to discover a murder which took place in Khor Fakan district of Sharjah.

The crime took place last year, when doctors from Khor Fakan Hospital called police to report that a housemaid was brought to the hospital suffering from severe abdominal pain.

During examinations, doctors found placenta remnants and an umbilical cord inside the housemaid.

She then confessed that she was pregnant and gave birth to a baby girl few days ago.

The housemaid said that she got pregnant from an illegal relationship with men and did not tell her employer about her pregnancy.

When she got her labour pains, she called another housemaid from the neighborhood who helped her in delivering the baby.
Both housemaids later on kept the baby in a plastic bag full of ice and hidden in a power generator in the neighbourhood. She later on threw it in the garbage.

When police officers went to the crime scene, they found the baby dead and in an almost rotten condition.

Both housemaids were referred to the Public Prosecution which assigned a forensic medicine doctor who found out that the baby was born alive, but then suffered from severe injuries to the head which caused its death.

Yesterday, Khor Fakan Criminal Court ordered to call the forensic medicine doctor who examined the dead baby to testify in court on the 20th of April.
