Fujairah jails man who tried to rape drunk woman

A criminal court in Fujairah sentenced a man to two months in prison on charges of trying to rape a drunk African woman at his home in the emirate.

The woman was also given a two-month jail term and fined Dh3,000 for having alcohol.

The court also ordered their deportation from the UAE after completing their jail term.

In a separate case, the court sentenced an Asian man to two years in prison after he was convicted of stealing his friend’s mobile phone.

Police said the man confessed to snatching the handset after his Indian roommate forgot it in the room, which they share with others.
