The murder case of an Indian taxi driver in Fujairah last week has unravelled as the Criminal Investigation Department of Fujairah Police arrested the suspects.

The two jobless Emirati youths – aged 20 and 21 - confessed to the crime saying that they stole the deceased’s wallet comprising Dh700 and fled the scene, reported Arabic dailies.

Col. Mohammed Ahmed Al Shaer, Director, CID, Fujairah Police, said that officials had rushed to Yabsa area in Fujairah upon receiving information that a cabbie was found murdered in his car.

He said that the suspects told investigating officials that they had been staying at the Beach Hotel in Fujairah on the night of the incident with the intention of looting at least one taxi driver that night.

So they hailed this particular cab at about 8.50pm and asked the Indian driver to head to Masafi area. However, a little later they demanded him to take a detour. When he refused, the second accused hit him.

Then the first accused stabbed him several times until he collapsed.

The duo then made away with his wallet comprising Dh700.
