A new born baby dumped by his Filipina mother through the garbage chute from the ninth floor in a Sharjah building has been taken out of hospital and handed to the government social care centre in the emirate.

Doctors at Al Qassimi hospital said the boy had fully recovered after receiving treatment for nearly 40 days while his mother, a housemaid, remains in jail.

“The baby has been handed to the Sharjah social care centre to look after him while his mother remains in detention…he was taken out of hospital after his condition stabilised,” the semi official daily Alittihad said, quoting a doctor.

The building watchman found the baby alive in the garbage after he luckily landed on garbage bags. He informed the police who arrested the maid.

The maid, who illegally worked for a family, told police she decided to get rid of her baby after an illicit relationship.
