Groper in lift gets 3 months in prison

An Indian worker, who groped a woman’s private parts in a shopping mall after drinking a can of beer, was sentenced to three months in jail.

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance also ordered MT, 27, to be deported after serving his jail term.

According to the records, on May 29 at around 9.30pm, MJ, 35, Filipina employee, was at the loading area of Deira City Centre.

“As I approached the lift at the loading area, I saw a man trying to press the lift’s button. I overtook him and pressed the button. When the lift came down, I stepped towards it and the man, who was behind me, groped my lower back with his palm while he was getting into the lift.

“I quickly got out of the lift and pressed the button to prevent him from closing the door and going up. I called security that arrived at the scene and caught the man until police arrived,” said the woman.

MT, 27, admitted to touching the lower part of the woman’s body but claimed that it was accidental, not intentional.
