Last month, a police patrol team on spotting a vehicle zipping through Fujairah city at high speed chased it down.

According to Arabic dailies, they discovered that the driver was a European crew working on a vessel at the Fujairah Port.

When the cops asked him to accompany them to the police station, he got wild and first thrashed one of the officials and then proceeded to smash the patrol car.

They ultimately managed to nab him. They subjected him to medical examination, which confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol.

He was referred to Public Prosecution and charged with assaulting a cop; damaging an official vehicle and consuming alcohol.
