House maid gets 6 months in jail for theft

A 24-year-old Filipina house maid, RBN, was sentenced to six months in jail followed by deportation after the court found her guilty of stealing a woman’s dress and precious items worth Dh51,500 from the house of her employer, a policeman.

Hilal Ahmad, Emirati, 34, testified that one of the maids told him that her co-worker RBN had stolen his wife’s expensive watch.

“Searching her bag, I found the watch worth about Dh47,000, so I informed the police who also found in her possession my wife’s Nokia mobile phone, a golden chain worth Dh4,000, a perfume and a silver chain,” he testified.

The police also found in the maid’s possession a dress belonging to the policeman’s wife and two mobile phones of his sons.
