Housewife threatens cops, drags them into chase

An Egyptian housewife, NTS, 29, is accused of driving with someone else’s licence, threatening policemen and attempting to ram a police car.

Amazingly she also attempted a getaway in her car.

The car which she was driving had 31 traffic violations at the time of the incident.

The startling attack unfolded when NTS’ Range Rover was stopped at around 3am on August 18 by a police patrol, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

Corporal Nasib Abbas testified that he suspected something amiss with the Range Rover, followed the vehicle and found out that it had 31 traffic violations.

"So I signaled the car to stop. I got down and walked towards the driver who was a woman. I asked her to present her driving licence, but she initially refused arguing that she did not do anything wrong. I told her it was just a security measure.

“She presented a driving licence, but the picture was not her’s. Asking her about another ID document she said she did not have any other document. At this point, I confronted her about the picture. She replied that she changed her features,” Abbas said.

"Ten minutes later another patrol arrived. When another Corporal, Ahmad Ali, questioned her, she again claimed the licence was her’s and that she had changed her features.

“The woman then got out off her car and told us: “Leave the driving licence and I will show you”. She got into her car and sped away," he testified.

The two corporals then had to chase her down until they reached her villa in the Al Wasl area.

Corporal Abbas was the first to arrive at her villa. She stepped out and asked him to move his car from front of her house and threatened him that if he did not do so she would have him fired and take up the case with the Dubai Police Chief.

Corporal Ahmad testified that he heard her threaten Abbas and kick the police car.

The police also alleged that she drove her car out of the garage and tried to ram the police car.

Someone then got out from the villa and calmed her down.

The case will reconvene on October 16.
