Carpenter smuggles Tramadol to prisoner

A Sudanese carpenter working in the central jail, who smuggled Tramadol tablets to a prisoner against bribes in cash and kind, was sentenced to one year in jail.
 
Carpenter HH, 53, was found guilty of smuggling 161 Tramadol tablets to a prisoner against Dh6,600 and mobile phones.

The bribe was handed over to HH by prisoner AS, 48, Emirati via AM, 27, a Pakistani outside the jail.
 
The Emirati prisoner and the Pakistani middleman were also sentenced to one year in jail.

The Sudanese and the Pakistani were ordered to be deported after serving their jail term.
 
The Sudanese convict was also ordered to pay Dh26,600 and the prisoner and mediator  were fined Dh20,000 each.
 
According to the records, the administration of the jail received a tip off that carpenter HH was supplying Emirati prisoner, AS, 48 with Tramadol tablets and mobile phones.
 
Police investigated the tip off and discovered that the carpenter had hidden a mobile phone in the false ceiling of the mosque’s washroom so that the prisoner could pick it up later.
 
The carpenter was arrested as he entered the jail next morning.
 
Confronting him with the allegations, the carpenter admitted to smuggling in Tramadol tablets and mobile phones to prisoner AS.

Police confiscated Tramadol tablets and mobile phones from his accommodation.
 
When asked about the source of the confiscated thing, he spoke about AA, a 27-year-old Pakistani.
 
Police arrested AA and confiscated mobile phones from him. He was preparing to smuggle one of them to the prisoner via the carpenter and another one was to be given as bribe to the carpenter.
 
The carpenter is accused of smuggling in narcotics and mobile phones into the jail and possessing 161 Tramadol tablets. The prisoner and Pakistani are accused of offering Dh6,600 and mobile phones as bribes to a public servant. The two are also accused of possessing 161 Tramadol tablets.
