Seeking employment as a teacher, an Egyptian allegedly forged his university certificate by changing his accumulative grade and graduation level and submitted the document to the UAE Ministry of Education, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

A ministry employee testified that MA, 43, had applied for a teacher’s position at the ministry and it was found out that in the academic certificate he had submitted, the graduation level was changed from ‘satisfactory’ to ‘good.’

His graduation percentage was in the 70s.

El Mansoura University in Egypt had responded to the UAE Ministry of Education’s query regarding MA’s certificate.

The Egyptian university stated that MA had graduated from the university in 2001 with a grade of 54.4 per cent and a ‘satisfactory’ level.

The court will reconvene on December 9.
