A jobless Afghani allegedly assaaulted a compatriot and made away with Dh1.5million, three mobile phones and a laptop, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Monday.

The accused, 28-year-old NAA, with the help of two other accomplices (both fugitives) raided Arkozia General Trading Company and threatened its Afghani owner Fazel Ahmad Nada Mohammed with a knife and forced him to disclose the code of the safe.

The victim Fazel received Dh1.5m for business purposes from his brother in Afghanistan on July 17 at about 6am . He locked the amount  in the safe and closed the doors, according to Prosecution record.

A short while later, he heard a knock on the door and welcomed NAA thinking he had come in for business. Quickly two others followed him, testified the victim in court.

As he was preparing drinks for them, they attacked him, he alleged. "They tied my legs with tape, blindfolded me and demanded I hand over the money I received from my brother," said Fazel. Under pressure, he revelaed the safe's code number, he added.

Upon arrest, NAA confessed to the crime and said his accomplice was the brain behind the crime. He alleged that his role was only to ensure the two others entered the company safely.

The building’s watchman Haji Mohammed, Indian, testified that he has been working at the building in Naif area for about two months. “I know that Fazel owns flat No 116 in the building which he uses as a company and residence but that he did not know what his activities were. There is no board eitherthat says it is a company," he testified.
