An Egyptian journalist who molested two female colleagues while attending a summit, received one year in jail.

The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance also ordered AM, 35, to be deported after serving his jail term.

The accused had asked two colleagues to join him for an interview he was about to conduct for Egyptian daily for which he works as a correspondent in Dubai.

Jordanian MM, 30 said that she met AM during lunch break of the event and after a short conversation about work he asked if she would join him for an interview.

"I left him and headed to a table, but he followed me and gave me his business card."

However, in the following day of the event, AM, called the victim and told her about the interview.

"I suggested doing the interview on the last day of the summit. At the end of the summit, some of us gathered to take a selfie. AM, who was around us, insisted to take selfie with us," she said.

While taking selfie, he stood next to the victim and hugged her. He followed her and began to flirt and started inappropriate conversation.

Even after being pushed aside the accused resumed his behavior and sat next to the victim, he then tried to make body contact.

"I was sitting on a table with other colleagues. When he did that, I left the table and returned after sometime. I didn't find him nor an American female colleague. After I enquiry, others informed that they left the table together,” she said.

After about 20 minutes, the American colleague turned back and looked very upset.

She told me that AM molested her.

The incident was reported to the police.

The American woman AB, 30, said that the accused pulled her by her hand forcing her to interview a participant in his hotel room.

"I threatened to scream and create a scandal if he didn’t let go of my hand," said the American victim.
